Testimony of members of Kountonguebongue church
In 2023, after ATAPEB’s announcement to open Moba literacy classes, Pastor Douti Paul encouraged members of his church to open one class at Kountonguebongue, a neighbourhood of Dapaong town.
In January 2024, a literacy class started and ended in April. 21 persons of whom 19 were women took the course. Lare Pagueyendou, a man of this church, was trained by ATAPEB to teach the class. He did this work without receiving any remuneration. After the test, 18 members passed and received their first diplomas.
In 2025, the church started the second year literacy class. Over two months, they were 12 to study the Moba New Testament and continue with reading and writing Moba using other books. After a test, nine women passed to receive their second diploma. Six of them then took on the challenge of learning French which was not so difficult due to their literacy skills in Moba. Learning French also took them two months. A test revealed five of them qualified to receive an attestation showing their ability to communicate in simple French. It was Diyobe Fati, a woman of this church, who was trained by ATAPEB to teach these two courses over the four months. She too did this work without any remuneration.
On the diploma award day at church, their Pastor Douti Paul collected some testimonies which show the impact of literacy on Christian faith.
